What this site collects

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count page views and clicks on Amazon links, so I can see which pages are useful. No advertising networks run here, advertising features in Google Analytics are switched off, and nothing is sold.

Cookies and your choice

On your first visit a bar asks whether Google Analytics may use cookies. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs in consent mode: it sets no cookies and sends only anonymous, cookieless signals that Google uses for aggregate estimates. If you accept, Google Analytics sets its cookies (named _ga and _ga_*), which last up to two years and let it recognise a returning browser. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. You can change it at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.

Clicks on Amazon links

When you click a link to Amazon or Audible, this site records which book and button you clicked, the page you were on, your approximate location (country, region and city, derived from your IP address by the hosting provider), your device type and browser. Your IP address itself is not stored. To count unique visitors without cookies, the site stores a one-way hash of your IP address and browser, mixed with a value that changes every day, so the same visitor cannot be linked from one day to the next. This record sets no cookie, is kept on a database hosted by Neon in the United States, and is used only to see which recommendations are useful.

If you subscribe, your email address is sent to the newsletter provider and used only to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any issue. I don't sell or share the list.

Amazon and Audible

When you follow a link to Amazon or Audible, you are on their site and their privacy policy applies. Amazon may set cookies to attribute the purchase to this site.
